These are some of my current happenings.
I was recently interviewed on the 'Thinking About Podcast' with Kirsti McNabney (January 30, 2024) where I presented a brief introduction to the Tarot, and spoke about listening your intuition.
The month of June opens with the Nine of Pentacles. When this card appears in a reading, it is time for you to assess your true focus. Since nines in general represent completion, or the final stage in any development, determine what is your true focus, and ascertain whether you are devoted enough to pursue that direction. As the nines are the culmination of a cycle, they can also be indicative of an emotionally trying time, especially if you are not willing to accept change. This is a time of liberation from the conventional. If you do not, or will not, let go of what is no longer working for you, higher forces will step in and remove it for you. Note, however, that you may find the letting go to be hindered, as the Nine of Pentacles carries a hint of illusion through its ruling planet, Venus. Therefore, delusions may be playing a role in your decisions, and consequently you will need to look for hidden meanings before you make any decision. It is important therefore, to use past experiences as a way of dealing with new issues that may arise at this time. Learning the lesson is an intrinsic part of understanding the deeper message of the Nine of Pentacles at the start of June.
With endings come transitions. Therefore, the beginning of June is a time to clean out the old to make way for the new. You must engage in a full and complete cleansing: mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. With the Nine of Pentacles the main focus should be on the physical and the material, and seeking a balance between material accomplishment and spiritual wisdom. Be disciplined. Do not become overly emotional, or cling to things that no longer serve you, for if you do, you will prolong the transition period. It is therefore best to get through this period as quickly and as painlessly as possible. People that you care about may leave your life. Alternatively, you may leave your job, or move to a new location. Things to which you are attached may no longer be a part of your life moving forward. You need to be self-reliant as you will be alone while you sort out what is going on, and come to terms with it. Look inward for answers. The status quo can no longer exist. A new skill set is required to move to the next stage.
The Nine of Pentacles indicates happiness and success, and bodes well financially. In addition to material wealth, it also brings peace, relaxation, comfort, and well-deserved rest. This month, you can find success and material well being, and come to appreciate what you have accomplished and what you already have. Harmony between you and nature is within your grasp this month. Seize the opportunity but remember to balance your tasks and goals.
The trumps are highly symbolic, and each trump symbolizes a specific universal aspect of human experience that must be incorporated before wholeness can be realized. As such, they are markers on the path of inner development leading to integration and wholeness. The Fool trump this month therefore is a warning sign that significant change is coming to your life. There is one aspect of the Fool that stands out for us this month: the Fool's bindle (the sack he carries). What does he carry in it? He carries all that he will need on his journey through life. It is his "wallet of forgotten knowledge". So, the message conveyed here is to pay attention this month to the basic attitude of the Fool: either he knows nothing or he does not make use of his knowledge. The theme this month therefore is a mind in search of knowledge and experience. It is time, therefore, to trust your instincts and look, without preconceived bias, at things in fresh, new ways: to step into the unknown and explore new and unfamiliar paths — all possibilities are open to you this month. This is a time of spontaneity and new beginnings. As the Fool is an air card, pay particular attention to how you communicate — both consciously as well as unconsciously, such as though your body language.
The Fool is the spark that sets everything in motion. He inspires the first steps toward completion and fulfillment. As such he stands for new beginnings, new goals, new experiences and new choices. he signals that this is the time to live in the present and to trust in your own abilities. Although with any new experience there is a risk of failure, the Fool has no qualms about taking chances. This month, so should you. That is how you will learn to soar and find harmony and fulfillment. As the focus of the month is on the material, through the Nine of Pentacles, pay particular attention to any original, subtle, or sudden impulses that come from strange and unexpected places. Deep insights become available to you this month so look for new opportunities, different ways of living, and new ideas. Move in harmony with your instincts and take risks and literal leaps of faith into the unknown with the feeling of trust that whatever happens wil be for the best. There are opportunities for you just waiting for you to be take advantage of them.
The Hierophant trump represents the Logos and is symbolic of what Jung called the animus: the unconscious masculine principle. In the context of this month, the Hierophant represents the need to find transcendent meaning, direction, and connection with the Divine. We, therefore have, this month, the strong need to discover within ourselves his internal counterpart, and find a way to relate to this inner voice archetype within us. The search for truth, strength of faith, and expansion of consciousness are all on the table this month. The constraint, however, is to approach it using traditional means. This is the time, this month, to truly awaken your consciousness. Pay attention to both the external, the conscious and the material, as well as the internal, the subconscious, to find that which is truly essential, and in which area lies true meaning. Conscience and responsibility are thus the operative themes this month.
When the Hierophant appears, it will often be in the form of a teacher or a mentor. If your current situation seems to require more experience and knowledge that you currently possess, be open to the possibility of a teacher or a mentor appearing in your life this month.
What we have this month is a situation where both the Nine of Pentacles and the Hierophant are both imposing structure and order within the confines of traditional means and approaches on our search for meaning and new direction. Although well intentioned, the Fool trump, however, advises us to rise above these tried and true paradigms, and trusting your deep-seated impulses and instincts, to take a risk: take a chance and a leap into the unknown in order to find new, unconventional meanings, and paths and directions for your life. Unfortunately the position of the Fool is weak this month so beware that the message it bears is not suppressed and lost by overreliance on the conservative and traditional. Do not fear taking chances this month. It could potentially leap you significantly forward.
The month of May see two seemingly divergent urges vying for your energy and attention: on one hand, the desire to forge ahead, assert your will and accomplish great things through your own efforts, and on the other, the need to stabilize and solidify your current situation through the development of practical and workable systems.
Twos generally represent the qualities of duality, choice, and balance. With a Two, the opportunity exists to deal with conflicts that have arisen and to resolve those conflicts to reinstate balance. See both sides clearly; be the peacemaker and the mediator. Settle disputes; bring about harmony and a peaceful settlement.
The Two of Wands deals a lot with the power of the Will to accomplish great things in the world. Without the initial vision there can be no final success, and without determination the goal can never be reached. The Two of Wands therefore is a card that embodies that determination to go out into the world and, through action, energy, enthusiasm, and passion, take up a cause or an endeavour, and succeed. The Two of Wands at the start of the month thus asks us to survey our surroundings, add up our assets, and then live out our driving passion from this well-educated position.
The energy of the Two of Wands is applied power. In the context of the month of May, this means the need to shape and direct energy towards the area in your life where it will be most useful. Where do you want to focus your attention and energy? What is important now, however, is to decide and get moving towards your goals, whatever those may be.
The Two of Wands is perceptive, has creative perspective, and has the ability, the power, and the potential to direct/control a situation or life's events. When this card's energy enters your life this May, you will find the ability to make your dreams into reality, and to achieve your highest ambitions. As twos are associated with unions, the Two of Wands show that the beginning of May is a good time for friendships, and harmonious, cooperative working relationships with like-minded individuals. The challenge is to decide what to do once you have it, or are in control of it. Narrow your focus and dare to go after what you truly want. Feel confident to act on your desires and take responsibility for the outcome. Don't give up. Your guidance will come from your past experiences.
With the Two of Wands, personal power is another theme for the month of May. It serves as a reminder that you are always in control of your life, and though you may be surprised by events from time to time, the reins remain in your hands waiting for you to use them. This is why it's important for you to use May to plan ahead, know where you are headed before you set off on your journey. There is no place for uncertainty and hesitation.
The overarching theme for the month of May is the Sun trump. It speaks to optimism, fulfillment, rejuvenation, victory, and rebirth. In the context of the month, however, it speaks to wholeness in your pursuits and the reconciliation of seemingly divergent views, obstacles and/or pursuits as presented in the Two of Wands and the Four of Pentacles. It means that the decisive task on your path of yielding has been reconciled and fulfilled. This month, the Sun trump indicates that the desire to forge ahead, assert your will and accomplish great things on one hand and the natural inclination to hold, stabilize and withdraw, although seemingly irreconcilably divergent in purpose, can be unified into a fresh new start, a new beginning, and into a new whole that will propel you into the next state of your development and life.
If you consider the desire for security, stability, and the status quo through withdrawal as the shadow aspect of yourself, and the fire energy of the Two of Wands as the outward, expansive seeking light aspect of the self, then according to Jung, you will be able to perceive your shadow and your light simultaneously from two sides and thus be able to position yourself in the middle. And in doing so, you will become whole. This is essence is the crux of the message delivered by the Sun trump: wholeness, rejuvenation, enlightenment, and insight through the unification of the light and shadow aspects of one's being. Therefore, this month of May is all about you: the self-development of the inner, spiritual you through external circumstances so that you may be liberate yourself from your perception of limitations imposed by those circumstances and by doing so, separate yourself from your old life and come to the full realization of your true nature. The month of May this is your opportunity for finding wholeness in yourself as well as in your life.
The Fours give us firm foundations, order, security, and stability. Although they are primarily concerned with stabilizing and solidifying the processes already begun and underway, they also give us an opportunity to change from situations that no longer work for us. Even though they generally have a calming and quieting effect on the energy of the Two of Wands which may induce stagnation and rigidity, that is not the case for you this month of May. You may stabilize a new situation as well as establish a firm base for a new endeavour. See whatever your plans may be through to the end to ensure that all the work is completed as planned. No excuses. There is a logical, practical reason for everything.
It is the nature of Pentacles to be apprehensive of change. Change can upset the security and balance that we are taught to achieve. However, such philosophy of keeping to the tried-and-true has led to many staying successful, but it has also led to others losing everything they hoped to preserve. The fear of loss may certainly prevent loss, but it also prevents further gain. That is your warning this month.
The Four of Pentacles is the card of the miser: the one refuses to help others who are in need, because there is a risk that they would lose something. But in this process, they lose a lot of the people whom they considered friends. Your foundations may be stable, but you can never be comfortable if your current situation has become a fortress, and you spend every waking moment trying to defend it, sooner or later, despite your best efforts, change will strike, and you will be humbled.
The Four of Pentacles thus often embodies holding on to money, possessions, or even other people. In the majority of cases, one thing the Four of Pentacles tells us is that no matter how hard it may be, we have to let go. By letting go you may lose a bit, but the gain in terms of happiness will outweigh any material loss. Sometimes you may find yourself clinging to the past just as the man on this card clings to his coins, and if so, the appearance of the Four should be taken as a sign to put your past behind you. Even if you think the past was better than the present, you must not cling to it or use it as a security blanket.
When the Four of Pentacles appears, there is probably not much change or growth. You are unwilling to let go of what you have. This is a solid situation that could become stagnant, as the Four of Pentacles may not see the need for further growth. The Four of Pentacles gives a stability and security that is welcome, but the Four of Pentacles must learn to share itself as well as its resources, and not just hold onto them for in doing so, one becomes transformed and gets moved into the next stage of their growth. Look carefully at what it is that you are clinging to; do you really need to be so careful or are you just afraid? Do you need to readjust your vision?
This month we are presented with two options: stasis and action. With the preponderance of the fire element in the reading this month, action and strong forward movement prevail. The desire for stability and security this month can provide a solid foundation and support your need to forge ahead with your dreams and aspirations. Overall, the reading indicates that your life can and will support a strong move towards furthering your goals, However, as the energy of the double fire element can be quite destabilizing in its influence, realism and practicality will be needed to ensure long-term success. So, the month of May in essence is a call to action coupled with sensibility and a measured dose of realism to keep things in check. Think in terms of movement, action, and responsibility. However, with the water element missing, beware the lack of compassion in all that you do.
The month of April is all about introspection, stirring emotions, a deep sense of nostalgia, and the pressing need for emotional balance. More specifically, you will feel the overwhelming need for emotional balance and objective perspective regarding home, family, health, and harmony. There may be, or perhaps you will feel the necessity for, changes on the domestic front, and responsibility, or your perception of responsibility, for the home and for those who live there, may increase. You may also experience an overwhelming inward pull for finding and establishing a new balance, a new sense of harmony, and a need for a new degree of cooperation with those closest to you. You may also find yourself deeply concerned with social responsibility beyond the home and consequently may become involved in community affairs as an extension of your home and family environment. You may find within you a heightened awareness and high sensitivity to the needs of others. Consequently, you may become the person to go to for advice, or just a shoulder to cry on. With the Six of Cups, trust and forgiveness in all partnerships, relationships, and within family ties is clearly called for.
The Six of Cups at the start of the month indicates the past, and may indicate that we may be dwelling too much on what has been instead of what is. There may be happier memories from our childhood or more recent events. Sometimes, however, it can even show that we may meet someone who we feel like we have known forever. The month therefore begins with looking, or the desire to look, back at your past in order to clear those things that remain lingering in your past so that you can move forward. You may feel the need to open your heart to all the possibilities of life, live in quiet harmony with those around you, and live in constant peace and joy. So, live in the moment, remember the past, and dream for the future. Be open, honest, and generous in your relationships: both with yourself as well as others. Express gratitude. Give of your talents freely.
As the number six is a number of balance, in the context of the month, the Six of Wands refers to the surmounting of obstacles in your everyday life through confidence, quick action, and dedication to your goals. Here the Six is a sign that your goals are reachable, and that any hard efforts on your part will not only will be recognized but will also have a tangible impact on your situation. Unfortunately, amongst the overwhelming emotions inundating you this month you may find it quite challenging to see all your battles through to their end, and what is more, win them amidst the sea of emotions roiling within you. Note, however, that this is just a reminder that you are on the right track, and that there is still a long way to go.
The Page of Cups is dreamy, deep, introspective, sensitive, empathic, indirect, and expressively overly emotional. The Page typically embodies information or messages of an emotionally impactful nature. He may even embody someone young and inexperienced in your life or mirror your feelings of inexperience or lack of confidence within yourself. Overly sensitive at times, the Page brings news, messages, and implies application, reflection, and meditation. However, the deep message here is that lessons learned through emotions are often far more profound than those learned through logic. However, the feelings may be overwhelming, and you should not permit yourself to become inundated within them.
The Page of Cups is associated with relationships. When his energy enters your life, it manifests in one of three ways: as a person around you, as an event that you will experience, or as a part of yourself that you must bring into full manifestation. However, the Page primarily revolves around issues associated with emotionally impactful messages, especially ones of family matters, romance, or friendships. He is thus indicative of a time of emotional beginnings and emotional experiences that are opening for you.
This month, you may feel the urge to trust your intuitive inclinations and embrace child-like wonder. You may wish to open your heart in child-like wonder and allow yourself to become vulnerable to fully appreciate all that you dream of coming. You may even wish to become creative on the canvas of your life! You may even see yourself as a visionary following your intuition. You may feel the deep stirrings and the urge to manifest the imaginative aspects of your personality and pursue your dreams.
Even if you find this month emotionally overwhelming and taxing, don't give up - you are not done yet. Persist and fight on – there is a good opportunity for success.
With the Three of Swords, at the beginning of March you may find yourself feeling deeply conflicted and possibly even hurt by the words and actions of others. Note, however, that there is a sense of completion in a three, as threes are not only sensitive to their surroundings but can actually influence their surroundings. Perhaps you can view your situation as a necessary first stage in the completion of events and circumstances that have been shaping and influencing your life for some time now.
Although the Three of Swords is associated with suffering and pain, it carries a lesson, and it is this lesson that is the most useful in this situation. The Three of Swords at the start of the month speaks directly to the heart of the matter at hand: long-standing deep internal stirrings, potentially disturbing feelings, as well as notions of sorrow, regret, self-examination, and finding and obtaining balance. When the Three of Swords appears there is always an element of sorrow, but whatever has given rise to these feelings in your life is not a fresh wound; it has been a part of you for a very long time.
Now is your time and your opportunity to face the situation so you can move beyond it and heal. The Three of Swords encourages us to see this as an opportunity to expand, learn from past mistakes, and grow stronger: a challenge to surmount and forge a better future. The Three of Swords, as unpleasant as it may feel at this time, offers you a transformational opportunity. It places a metaphorical mirror in front of you that pushes you to confront the truths you have been ignoring and avoiding. Finally, the Three of Swords asks you to examine whether you are being completely honest with yourself concerning the situation and/or the people involved. Take the time to look at things honestly and objectively, and see the situation as a wake up call. The challenge for you this month is to choose one path to move ahead, and instill the discipline within yourself that is needed to follow it. Examine closely and honestly the nature of the lesson the pain holds for you.
The Eight of Wands is the focus of the month of March. Under the influence of number eight, truth is defined, and Karma reigns. The Law of Cause and Effect is complete in an eight, and consequently you will receive exactly what you deserve. For some, great rewards will be bestowed, including career advancement, awards, raises, and honors. For others, there will be material loss, financial hardship, unemployment, or even bankruptcy. The difficult side of the number eight indicates that you have not handled your energies wisely, have not pursued proper goals, or that you have not put in the required effort to achieve your goals. Personal responsibility is a key central issue here. Consequently eights represent developing self-esteem, and finding and living your personal destiny. The eights imply balance, and the renewal of energies. You now have the strength you require to transform hope into reality. Do the right thing, simply because it's the right thing to do.
The Eight of Wands speak directly to the themes of swift and decisive action. The central imagery of the card evokes the feelings of perspective, deliverance, and going with the flow. Since the Eight of Wands delivers the energy of its suit swiftly and decisively, the card generally refers to a swift and decisive action in the form of a sudden release of energy. The sudden burst of energy released by the Eight of Wands clears away confusion and negativity, opens up lines of communication, and sets events in motion. Obstacles will be swept out of your way, and you will be able to advance as fast as you like. However, beware of being too hasty or impetuous. Actions can be swift and still well-thought-out, but should not be hasty or ill-conceived if they are to have the effect you desire. So, take things in stride, hold nothing back, and if there are, or have been, major obstacles in your way, you now have the power to move past them. The Eight of Wands thus serves as the starting point for the opportunity of a major spiritual and/or ideological transformation. All the pieces of your life will seemingly fall into place of their own accord, and for the very first time you will see the big picture in its entirety.
The indication in the Eight of Wands is that the central force needs to be directed towards the Seven of Cups. The push this month will be for you to decide how you will define yourself: who are you, or who do you wish to be, in the material world. The imagery also signifies endings. Sooner or later all things must come to an end, and the imagery, which symbolizes putting events into motion, also implies bringing them to a close — culminating an effort, closing out an activity, finding a successful resolution, completing unfinished business, and having all the elements come together conclusively. The deep symbolic implication here — which addresses the caution raised in the context of the card — is the return to personal integrity, and getting back to basics — the ideals of the Wands suit. In the Eight of Wands we are called to submit to the dominant pull of our higher purpose. If we have paused and reevaluated, as we had been urged to do, we now know the way to proceed. Odds are that we will be divinely guided to the path of least resistance leading to our best interests. It is simply a matter of faith. The Eight of Wands thus signifies a swift and satisfactory conclusion to the matter at hand. Delays will come to an end, and events once set in motion will run their course without further effort on your part.
The Seven of Cups speak directly to the theme of temptation. The central image of the chalices conveys the concepts of choice, illusion, and manifestation. The presence of clouds in the central image also evokes the need for discernment and understanding. The fact that there is nothing else on the card, no landscape or buildings, suggests that you must choose from the offerings before you. Since the figure on the card is just a silhouette, it signifies that as of yet, the choice has yet to be made. The chalice chosen will define who you become, so choose carefully. It may all just be an illusion, or wishful thinking. However, the primal force of the Eight of Wands will help you dispel these illusions and force you to choose the right chalice that will define you in the material world.
In all the sevens, there is an inherent split between emotions and intellect. Consequently sevens represent an internal struggle of growth aimed at personal achievement, and consequently sevens are cards of choice or testing, usually both. You will need to be alone to think, meditate, reflect, and retreat within yourself, by yourself, and for yourself. Aggressive action is not compatible with a seven.
This month your activities and interests will turn inward, and those that come from the outside will be contained. You will gather your thoughts, think about your life experiences, and transfer them into your inner realms. This is a pause in your life where you will become aware of your spiritual self. You have worked hard. Now it is time to pull back and think about what is your life. This is a time to allow the mystical side of you to surface. This is divine silence.
Although the imagery of the card suggests a myriad of possibilities, it is important to remember that the referring suit of Cups deals almost exclusively with the realm of emotions, intuition, dreams, and spirituality. Furthermore, as Cups are associated with the element of water, and water is symbolic of life, transformation and renewal, the imagery here evokes feelings of rebirth. The rebirth conveyed here is one of reflection on one’s own life: The choices we have made throughout our lives are being reflected to us in the pools of our psyche, and we observe these on the waves of our dreams and emotions. The card therefore speaks to limitless diversity and unbounded potential. Everything is left to our imagination. What will you choose: to shed a part of yourself in order to allow further growth, to achieve goals, and desires, self-illumination and enlightenment, honor and status, companionship and romance, wealth, or something more supernatural in your life?
The Seven of Cups often appears when a difficult choice must be made, and the image on the card reflects the difficulty in making the choice — because the choice you make will ultimately define who you become. You will be faced with a selection of choices, or it may not be clear to you what you want to do. This is a time to decide and focus: which dreams are worth pursuing and which are better left behind. Real progress can only be made once a decision is made. The Seven of Cups tells us that we are dreaming big, and to be careful not to get caught up in our illusions. There are many choices and temptations here, and various courses of action to take. It is very important to consider long-term goals and aspirations with the Seven of Cups, and not be swayed by fantasies. The call here is for you to reflect on the possible consequences of the choices before you.
You will have a tendency to analyze your past, and think about how it contributed to the present conditions that surround you. You will use these thoughts to work towards a more perfect future for yourself. Make goals, think positively, utilize the strength of your mind, and discover the power within yourself. Accept this opportunity and move forward.
The month of February promises to be a month full of excitement, energy, activity, and of moving ahead with your plans. February is full of energy when it comes to ideas and opportunities for the future. As threes are all about creativity and personal expression, you may find yourself feeling energy that brings a spurt of new growth in your personal evolution. The stage is set this month for the completion of the first steps in achieving your lifelong personal goals, dreams, and ambitions. You have the energy, and your vision is clear. Not only will you feel inspired, but you will also inspire those around you with your infectious energy, and zeal for life and all it has to offer. You may find that you can influence not only your surroundings, but others, as you move through their lives this month. Do so with care. Opportunities in life will come through other people who will give you a chance to shine so seize your opportunities! Instill the discipline needed to optimize, and you will succeed.
The three of Wands at the start of the month suggests that you have already begun work on moving forward with your life goals. Threes represent creativity and the flow of fresh ideas, and the high vantage point and the unlimited scope of the domain presented by the three of Wands suggest you need to observe the unfolding of the activity you have unleashed and set in motion, before pursuing further action. This three advises you to allow your desires to come to you. For in watching with awareness and allowing, not pursuing, will you find the culmination of your desires to be satisfying. This month, as you wait for the results of your work to begin manifesting, watch and learn. The month also presents the theme of partnership: now that you have taken the first steps on your journey, you will likely find others to travel with you. The implication here is that if further success in your endeavor is desired, it often becomes necessary to include other people on this new part of your journey.
The King of Swords, a symbol of intellectual power and authority, has the courage and intellect to accomplish all that he desires. The King can take any situation, look at it, and then render a decision while keeping it under control, and this King is a part of yourself that must be brought to the surface. Therefore, the King commands you to be detached and objective in specific situations, to ascertain the truth and seek out only the facts. You need to use your intellect to succeed. Your education and experience are important but so are your day-to-day observations and thoughts.
The King of Swords also suggests that you need to adopt a very stern but fair role. You have clarity of mind and can perceive the facts right now, so you must take the lead with providing an objective point of view. You are well-positioned to judge your situation appropriately and identify the limiting behaviours that are getting in the way. This is a time when you need to leave out emotions and remain as objective and rational as possible. You may need to reason with others and be quite direct about what you are observing. You may be concerned that you are not being particularly caring or sympathetic but now, this detachment is what is needed the most.
The King of Swords encourages you to use your logic and intellect to navigate your path ahead. You will need to get to the heart of the matter, make firm decisions, and ensure that you are fair in your dealings with others. You need to be able to take any situation, look at it with total impartiality, and then come to a decision that is both fair and insightful. You may also benefit by finding an advocate or mentor who will look out for your needs and who can provide you with objective and smart advice about what to do. Use your intelligence and clear understanding of a situation to make critical decisions.
When the King of Swords enters, he comes to remind you to take heed about the actions of your life. Consider the perspective and counsel he brings. If you heed his advice, you will rule your inner and outer domain with ease. When this part of you starts to manifest you will know it right away. The King of Swords arrival in your life is an event that almost never goes unnoticed simply because he commands attention from everyone around him. He does not linger waiting for something to do; he appears when his impartiality and cold judgement will help you solve a problem. For a moment, your head is clear, and you can see in a different light. Judge fairly, speak truth, and never waver from your standards.
Juxtaposed against the opening three of Wands, the focus of the six of Wands is squarely on home, family, health, and harmony. There may be changes in your family life or the home. There may be a need for you to find balance in all aspects of the home, including manifesting the physical aspects of the home, the relationships in the home, as well as balancing yourself within your home. February will also be the time for you to pay increased attention to your health - do not neglect it.
You may also feel social responsibility beyond the home and consequently may become involved in community affairs as an extension of your home and family environment. In the workplace, think of what is best for the group.
This month you may be feeling proud of yourself and your abilities, and may be seen by others as exceedingly capable, do not get carried away with your confidence. Do not lose sight of your vision amid all your successes you may be enjoying. There is much more work left for you to accomplish. Focus on facilitation and partnership to accomplish results. Do not make compromises for the sake of expediency.
As Six is a number of balance, it makes sense that the Six of Wands shows a time when the strife and competition of the past have been overcome, and you can enjoy victory. This is the potential in front of you this month. The six of Wands can refer to a spiritual breakthrough or it can refer to the surmounting of obstacles in your everyday life through confidence and dedication to your goals. When the Six makes an appearance, it is a sign that your goals are about to be reached, and your hard efforts will be recognized by all. The recognition may be elaborate or subtle, but it will be there in some form. When this card appears you have an energy that empowers you, so rein in your ego and make your victory that much sweeter. However, remember that your most important work still lies ahead. This is a reminder that you are on the right track, but that there is still a long way to go. Stay the course.
The new year and the month begin with an air of completion, or the culmination of a long-term cycle. Consequently, you may find the start of this month to be a trying time if you are unwilling to accept change. If you do not, or will not, let go of what is no longer working for you, higher forces will step in and remove it on your behalf - perhaps in a manner that may be less than what you consider ideal for you. Therefore, use past experiences and the knowledge gained as a way of dealing with new issues, and look for all meanings. Learning the lesson is an intrinsic part of understanding the deeper message of the nines, so accept the lesson and move on. With endings come transitions, and hopefully the wisdom to mobilize these changes for your long-term ultimate good.
The start of the new year will be a time to clean out the old to make way for the new. People that you care about may leave your life, you may leave your job, or move to a new location. Things to which you are attached may no longer be a part of your life. You must look inward for answers. The status quo can no longer exist. Assess your true focus and figure out what is the next level in your personal growth and evolution. Engage in a full and complete cleansing: mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Do not cling to things that no longer serve you, for if you do, you will prolong the transition period. It is therefore best to get through this period as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
As we start this new year, rejoice, for the transition and any difficulties you may be facing can potentially serve to set the foundation for what the Pentacles eventually bring: happiness, security, and financial success. You will work hard to start the year but if you commit and persist, not only will you enjoy the fruits of your labor, but you will also feel secure and satisfied, both financially and in your environment. The Nine of Pentacles, in addition to material wealth, also brings peace, relaxation, comfort, and well-deserved rest. You will have success and material well being, and you will appreciate what you have worked so hard to achieve.
The focus of all activity this month is the Hierophant. When the Hierophant shows up, your attention needs to be focused on your convictions, finding direction for your life, the search for holistic meaning, as well as the search for truth through the power of conviction and strength of faith. Examine your belief systems: how you operate with these beliefs, and how they affect your life. Pay attention to and respect what is apparent and what is concealed.
The Hierophant thus represents not only the need to find meaning but also the need to transmit your wisdom. When the Hierophant appears it may also be in the form of a teacher or a mentor, who instructs you in the ways of their particular belief in the hopes that you will join them. If your current situation seems to require more experience then you can call upon, be open to the presence of a teacher or mentor in your life. Do not make the grave mistake of openly seeking such a teacher - as the old proverb says, when the student is ready, the teacher will appear.
The Hierophant can also represent group activities and beliefs, and in either case, support of the establishment and respect for the rules are emphasized. So if you are planning something revolutionary, the appearance of The Hierophant is a good sign to forget such action and go with the flow for the time being. The traditional way of doing things must work most of the time, or else it wouldn't have been around long enough to become tradition. However, when an idea is proven wrong it is certainly time for a change. The true Hierophant therefore is one who has a deep respect for their beliefs, but who will not blindly follow them to their own ruin. Know what is right for you.
The Three of Pentacles at the end of this spread offers us a way of dealing with the difficulties facing us at the start of the year and the month. A Three is all about creativity and personal expression. In addition, a Three can also indicate one too many, another person, entity, or object involved in the situation. The issue you may face is one of having too many diverging ideas, tasks, or people involved which may take away from your focus on what is truly important to you, on a personal level. The challenge at the end of the month consequently will be to choose one road, and instill the discipline needed to follow it. Therefore, focus on being disciplined and practical. As this is a Pentacle card, and Pentacles are the suit of regulations and conservatism, this card calls for security through convention: be responsible and fair in your dealings with others; stick to schedules; follow procedures; and do everything by the book. By doing this, you will likely find the tasks and the work needed to be accomplished both emotionally and financially fulfilling.
The Three of Pentacles at the end of the month could also be an indication of someone coming into your life in order to help you complete the transition begun at the start of the month. If you remain sensitive to your external environment, you will be able to utilize information available to you. Keep your eyes open to opportunities that may come through other people who may give you a chance to shine. Furthermore, the timing of the Three of Pentacles this month is most opportune, for it indicates that although Pentacles have a tendency to be very slow and methodical, you may be able to accomplish and see actual results this month or in the not so very distant future. The Universe will give you what you want if you are willing to work for it in a focused and driven manner. So go for it. Bear the transition, and focus on working to build your dreams and achieve your long-term future success.
Fives, by their very nature, are ever changing, and in that, they provide us with opportunities for freedom, as well as opportunities to change for the better and improve our lives. The month of December, although likely emotionally turbulent initially, provides us with a variety of opportunities through a myriad of risk-taking or short-term experiences and the lessons they bring. Will we recognize them, seize them, and change for the better? That is the ultimate question. Deciding what action to take, if any, with each experience, and deciding what to learn from that experience is what will determine the ultimate outcome. Although the start that the month of December provides may be quite unsettling, do not hide from the lessons or move so quickly from the experiences that you fail to understand the part each lesson played in the experience.
The month opens with feelings or a general sense of sadness, grief, disappointment, and regret. We may find ourselves so focused on something that may have gone wrong for us that remaining opportunities may be missed. Perhaps it is time for you to take an internal inventory of your past actions and feelings to obtain clarity in your life. Perhaps it is also the time to assess how negatively dwelling on the past is affecting you, and whether it is serving you in a positive way.
The Five of Cups thus urges that rather than dwelling on what has passed and cannot be changed, we look to the future as all is not lost. Rather than being a sign of an existing hardship, the five is a timely warning to change your course through persistence and tenacious hold to your personal vision. Don't worry about what cannot be changed and turn each setback into a step forward. Never let your grief stop you from seeing what is left over. Discover how you can more effectively bridge the gap between loss/pain and gain/happiness in your life. You will recover. It may, however, take some time to do so as the Cups suit indicates slow progress to stability.
Aces represent a beginning point, a potential, or the recognition of an opportunity offered to us by the hand of the Spirit pictured on each card. As descendants of The Magician, Aces embody raw, undeveloped power, and communicate the start of something raw and as yet undeveloped. Thus, Aces are full of potential: what might be, as well as what can be. Moreover, just because the Ace card shows up, it does not necessarily mean that something is brand new. There's always a point where things recycle, new perspectives must be taken, and beginnings take form in multiple ways such as the continuation of something current but in an entirely new direction. They thus represent hope, a possibility, an action to take, and a future that you can create. The message is clear: get started and the Universe will help you. Take the first steps to a new beginning and you will feel as if a strong wind is at your back, moving you along in the direction of your choosing.
The Ace of Pentacles, the theme for the month, is all about potential and what opportunity lies within any situation. It is emblematic of an upsurge of energy directed towards manifesting some tangible advantage or material gain. The Ace symbolizes primal force with respect to material gain, wealth, labour, and prosperity. It is thus the great drive and enthusiasm for the beginning of new ventures that have good foundations, and for creating material and financial wealth and stability. The Ace of Pentacles stands for the particular energy required to achieve financial security and/or status. The activity implied by the Ace simply signifies that we take action. But what kind of action? The action indicated in the Ace of Wands. And since Aces represent beginnings, the Ace of Pentacles represents something started that eventually brings material gain. Note that the Ace is not only about the beginning, but also about creating the foundation required. The Ace therefore is not the promise of long-lasting financial and material security that some might expect, but it is the sign that such things are within your reach. The appearance of this Ace is usually the sign of a turn for the better in terms of fortune and wealth. Keep your feet firmly planted in the earth and let your common sense, and your intuition, guide you to your success.
More often than not, the realms of material and spiritual wealth are mutually exclusive, but in the Ace of Pentacles all types of wealth are portrayed, and though the material world is certainly in full view, this card features a gateway or a passage into the more spiritual realm far in the background. The message here is clear: You can achieve spiritual peace through material means, if you know the path!
The Ace of Pentacles represents the element Earth, which is associated with contentment, security, and financial stability. It is the feminine aspects of life: the home, family, and practical everyday matters. It stands for emotional and material security, enjoyment of the good things in life, and pleasure. The Ace is all about the acquisition of material wealth, but more for the sake of comfort and satisfaction — which may result more from a secure family life and a sense of one's own worth, rather than from one's material prosperity. The Ace thus embodies a warm, generous nature, and deep appreciation of beauty. It indicates security within a relationship, love, and acceptance of one's physical nature and needs.
The Ace of Wands is emblematic of passions, drives, desires, and ambitions. It is the desire or urge that must be fulfilled: the initial burst of creativity and outpouring of energy that energizes a project and inspires people to greatness. The activity implied by the Ace simply signifies that we need to take action. With that mental note, attach yourself to that resource; you won't even notice what you've done. The Ace is like a torch that can guide us to success. The Ace cannot tell you where to go, but it can light your way so you can make the correct choices yourself. Thus, the Ace's most basic meaning is success through the exercise of will. But that said, since all Aces refer to the start of something, the Ace of Wands typically represents the beginning of a new enterprise, usually something to do with your career, or following your passions.
The Ace of Wands' appearance is a sign that now is the time to act to achieve the success you desire. You have the skill to start, and the potential to see any endeavor through to its conclusion, whatever that may be. However, the Ace asks us to consider our direction and examine what is our true passion. If there is something you have been wanting to do, but were afraid, now is the time to feel the fear and do it anyway. You'll find it much easier to complete the things that you must do and get to try some of the things you've been wanting to do. Enjoy every iota of the Ace of Wands' energy. Seize the opportunity and use the energy of the Ace to your highest benefit. You can achieve whatever your will desires! Now is the time to let your light shine so get ready as a new and exciting adventure is near for you. Don't give up! Your persistence is about to pay off. Use all your available resources to reach your goals.
So, this month we may find ourselves between feeling disillusioned and focused on our misfortunes on one hand, and the almost irresistible urge to move forward and do something to better our lives. The cards suggest that you focus your energy on building something tangible and long lasting for the future. This is the month of fresh beginnings and new starts that have the potential to bear fruit far into the future and provide you with the stability and success you so desire.
The two of Swords that opens the month speaks to duality and balance, and focuses predominantly on stagnation, stalemate, and deadlock due to opposing choices and/or split decisions. This balance is a stalemate between two equally matched forces in which neither has the clear advantage. These forces can take on many forms; for example, the impulse to act against the desire to stay silent, or knowing what to do against actually doing it.
As the dominion of the suit of Swords is communication, logic, and rational thought, the two of Swords clearly carries the connotation of being of two (opposing) minds about something. You find yourself enveloped in an air of confusion, complications, frustration, and lack of clarity in making intellectual and/or communication-related decisions that would work in practical situations. An answer could be found, and the truth could be seen, but those involved choose not to see it and deliberately avoid seeing the truth due to fear of perceived dangers. Thus the two of Swords may well be a time when you feel challenged and conflicted. There may be arguments and conflicts with another person, within yourself, or in your situation. At any rate, you are fighting hard to keep things balanced and stable. Unfortunately you will not be able to maintain his state forever, and will need to make a choice/decision.
The two of Cups, the central theme for the month, speaks of relationships: emotional engagements in the form of deep connections with friends, family, partners, coworkers, and/or lovers. It evokes the notions of connection, cooperation, and communication. The union implied here offers a new beginning, one filled with freshness, promise, hope and trust, that brings new energy, new focus, new intensity, and new vitality. The two is therefore telling us that in order to reap the full benefits of the promise presenting itself to us, we must remove all masks behind which we may be hiding during our everyday life. We must expose our true selves, and become vulnerable to ourselves and to the other. As always, you need to bring your nature (self and true self) into a harmonized whole.
The theme of the month is dominated by twos: the two of Cups, and the two of Swords. Twos generally represent the qualities of cooperation, duality, choice, and balance. With a two, the opportunity exists to deal with conflicts that have arisen and to resolve those conflicts in order to reinstate balance. The two of Swords presents the intellectual pressure to make the decisions that you know needs to be made. The two presses upon us that the time of vacillation, passivity, and inactivity is over. It is time for you to step forward. This is your lesson and opportunity. It is up to you to accept it and act on it wisely and decisively.
The Magician, this month, offers us opportunities. Symbolizing masculine polarity on a cosmic level - in the world of drives, desires, motivations, abstract concepts and ideas - he acts as a channel for directed power through knowledge. He represents clarity and meaning through external experience. He urges us to utilize all resources at our disposal, and that you have the ability this month to create your own reality. He is an indication that we have more power than we realize to change our circumstances. Therefore, this month you have all the pieces available to you to make the decision that will break the impasse, and arrive at a successful resolution of your situation! The Magician therefore is a signal to act consciously. Be clear about your underlying motives and intentions, and act now. The only limits you have are those you impose on yourself.
The month of October looks like a somewhat difficult month. The elements in the reading are complementary but unstable, indicating a lack of structure. Although much thinking/planning/discussing may be taking place, the tone of the month is predominantly passive, suggestive of stalling and waffling. So we have opposing ideas that somehow create an emotional response that, lacking inspiration, leads to little or no action. The central two of Cups is moderately strong so we get a sense of being overcome with emotions, losing clarity, acting on emotions, and not wanting to face up to the harshness of reality due to the fear of being overtaken by emotions. Use the active power of the Magician to take control, and transform your reality into a positive outcome.
Wow! We have quite the significant and potentially life-changing month ahead of us spiritually: all Major Arcana in the reading! The major theme this month is one of reconciliation and balancing of opposites into a harmonious whole through a free willed decision.
The month begins with The Lovers: a trump highly allegorical in nature. The Rider-Waite depiction of The Lovers represents a peak experience. But what kind of peak experience? The title, The Lovers, tells us that we are dealing with dichotomies and opposites that are not antagonists, but rather complements - further underscored by the trump's astrological attribution of Gemini - and that the universe demands a reconciliation and balance between all the pairs of opposites which seemingly constitute your present existence.
As air is the element which rules The Lovers, the meaning here is primarily associated with the spirit and the mind. Since the notion of being at a moral crossroads is presented, a moral choice is required. However, the card warns us to consider all information and consequences before acting. The planet Mercury rules Gemini and thus further echoes the need for the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of the true meaning of our conditions and environment before we act and choose. The situation could be as simple as a fork in the road with two paths to choose between, or a much more complicated decision by which all of our strongest beliefs and ideals will be tested. Without the decision to leave there would never be any journey. Consequently the card symbolizes the free decision of the heart, the determination, the resolution, and the decision you must make this month for you are standing at the crossroads of the journey to spiritual enlightenment. Watch your desires and impulses. Discriminate between that which is helpful and that which is not; discriminate intelligently. The Lovers also tell us to keep our eyes turned focused on the inspiration and ideal potential of our existence, and allow our subconscious mind to interpret these visions and provide the circumstances and opportunities to manifest our ideas into reality.
The wise old man, The Hermit, is an archetypal figure within us, not an exterior manifestation. He personifies the archetype of the Spirit: the preexistent meaning hidden in the chaos of life. He is the wisdom not to be found in books. He lives in solitude - the silence within us. By his very presence he illuminates the human soul, and wills hearts with hope and meaning. What is important is that we hear the inner call, which in this case is always a call to silence and seclusion.
The imagery of The Hermit tells us that above the merely personal level of our daily experience there is a real presence that now is all that we aspire to be. That presence, no matter how far off it may seem to be, however inadequately we may understand it, however shrouded in obscurity and darkness its real nature, is friendly and definitely helpful. The Hermit thus urges us to focus, through silence and introspection, on our self-knowledge, our personal standards and values, and on being true to ourselves. Contemplate what is essential, define your position, define your values and standards so that through clarity and inner peace for true wisdom to emerge and you may find your true self.
The central imagery depicted in this trump is that of a bearded ancient. He is usually identified with Primal Will. He is clad in gray, a mixture of the colors of The High Priestess' pillars, of the wand and rose of The Fool, and of the sphinxes that draw The Chariot. Thus The Hermit represents the union and equilibration of all pairs of opposites. The appearance of The Hermit here is a call to focus this month on learning more about yourself and the nature of your existence. Take this as a sign that your worldly problems and affairs can safely be put on hold; there is greater, inner work to be done now. Often this will refer to a problem you must solve or a part of your nature you must deal with before a situation can progress. Only in rare circumstances will this refer to a spiritual transformation, but when it does, know that it will be a powerful change requiring much effort and commitment.
The month culminates with The Chariot, a card of Divine interaction in our lives. It is not merely a card of revelation. Rather, it is a card of power and of actual Divine intervention in all aspects of our lives. It assists us with mastering contradictions, risking something new, experiencing the world in new ways, accomplishing great things, as well as succeeding in a great leap forward as a result of decision for action through boldness, consciousness of a goal, and assertive will. Seven is the number of The Chariot trump. Consequently this trump represents the reconciler: the force or power that can establish harmony, the force that can bring order out of chaos, and the power of adaptation and adjustment. That reconciler, that force and that power is the Divine energy that permeates all of creation, not a personal force.
The Chariot is a card of power, action, and even intervention but The Chariot is absolutely stationary. There is no indication whatsoever that The Chariot is moving. In fact, the entire countenance of the card is that The Chariot sits and is here waiting for you. It is up to you whether or not you are going to utilize The Chariot. We have seen this principle of the two becoming one, several times before. It is therefore up to us [our free will] to determine whether we are going to be willing to let go and let the Divine work through us.
As a card of force and control but due to its attribution to Cancer, the focus here is predominantly on emotional control: the power of the mind to shape the desires of the heart and direct them to meaningful expression. Although this transition has been decreed for you by the Universe, and you cannot avoid it, the Chariot lets you know that everything is being guided by the hand of the Divine, and that the Divine will actively guide and participate in the changes taking place in your life. Fear not. You are not alone. The Divine will guide the process and intervene on your behalf to bring you to a more spiritually guided, fulfilling path. The outcome of the month, therefore, in spite of its rather conflicted beginning, is for you to experience the world in new ways, to accomplish great things, and to take a great spiritual leap forward. It is time for you to gain control over your emotions, be bold, be conscious of your big inner goals in life, become disciplined and assertive, and to boldly go into the unknown in pursuit of your dreams.
The month of September therefore is a reminder that if only you are willing to let go, and actively pursue manifesting your spiritual goals, it will be the Divine, through its intervention in your life, that will mold for you new aspects of your personality and carry you through to an even better life.
The month opens with a relatively strong intrusion of the past into your life. Whether you find yourself dwelling too much on what has been, on happier memories from your past, or even on the return of someone from your past into your life, you need to give priority this month to focusing on your home, health, family, and harmony. There will likely be changes on the domestic front, and responsibility for the home and for those who live there will likely come to the forefront. Trust, forgive, and live in quiet harmony with those around you. Live in constant peace and joy. Live in the moment. Be at your practical best, always ready to serve!
Seek balance in all aspects of the home, including manifesting the physical aspects of the home. But, fitness, increased health, as well as a sense of social responsibility which may propel you to become involved in community affairs or areas relating to the balance of justice should all be very high on the agenda for you this month. This is the time for you to get involved. Give freely of yourself, your talents, and your skills without concern. Remain undaunted by the effort required. This is your green light for renewal: to share your talents with the world.
The presence of the Justice trump further confirms the central theme for this month: the willingness to assume responsibility for yourself and others. The emphasis this month therefore should be on control, balanced judgement, and on making intelligent decisions based on your intuition and the sense of what others are feeling, and well thought-out thinking, that lead toward balance and equilibrium. As the astrological sign associated with the Justice trump is Libra, and Saturn is exalted in Libra, the theme of karma weighs heavily on all that you undertake this month. Whether it is time to cleanse karma from your past, or create new karma for yourself, the bottom line therefore is that whatever you choose to undertake this month, you must do it fully and completely: you must be all in for what you sow this month you shall reap in the future.
The Page of Cups at the end of the spread speaks to new beginnings, the seeds of which have been planted long ago. In direct opposition to the focus on home, health, family, and harmony sought by the VI of Cups, the Page speaks to the inexorable push for new spiritual and/or emotional beginnings and experiences rather than to the nostalgia driven focus of the VI of Cups. While the elemental energies here are complementary, the combination of energies is unstable since it lack structure. The conflicting emotional experiences rising from the VI of Cups and the Page of Cups culminate in the desire to rise above these emotional pressures using logic and rational thought to make sense of the past, as well as of others projecting their emotional baggage onto you. This is your time therefore to cut through any clouded and emotional issue, and make sense of how you feel. This is the time to clear the emotional and/or spiritual fog.
As the month closes out, you will find yourself at a new stage in your life, and may even receive spiritual messages, or messages of an emotionally impactful nature related to family, friends, or others, and even highly valued items important in your life. Beware that you do not misunderstand the message or become overly sensitive to it. Trust your intuitive inclinations. Learn the profound lessons you need to learn through your emotions. Embrace your spirituality and creative spirit, and let your life flow in your own unique style. Dare to dream and all things will become possible.
The month of June opens with the potential for confronting the shadow aspects of your self for the purpose of real endings, and transition to a new, spiritually-guided, more fulfilling path for your life. We start the month with real, tangible endings: a departure, a separation, or a conclusion of something, generally some unconscious aspects of your personality that your Ego does not wish to acknowledge, or identify with. One phase of your inner life has come to a natural end, and it is time for the self to regenerate. Unfortunately though, there is still the night: the ending that must be endured, and only in finding acceptance that you have embodied your shadow aspects into your conscious life to the best of your ability, can your new day truly begin. In essence then, we have come to the end of our maturation process in our spiritual journey through life. We find ourselves on the cusp of a potentially profound transformation - big changes are heading your way! Typically the changes refer to something in your lifestyle: attitudes, perspectives, or approaches that are no longer useful and which need to go. Note, however, that the changes represent a forced sacrifice. In other words, this is your wake up call, and these changes will come regardless whether you want them to or not.
The focus of the month, the Chariot, is a card of force and control but due to its attribution to Cancer, the focus here is predominantly on emotional control: the power of the mind to shape the desires of the heart and direct them to meaningful expression. The focus, of the month, therefore, in spite of its rather harsh beginning, is to experience the world in new ways, to accomplish great things, and to take a great spiritual leap forward. It is time for you to gain control over your emotions, be bold, be conscious of your big inner goals in life, become disciplined and assertive, and to boldly go into the unknown in pursuit of your dreams. The real purpose of the Chariot here thus is to remind you that if only you are willing to let go, take action, and actively pursue manifesting your spiritual goals, it will be the Divine, through its intervention in your life, that will mold for you your new personality and carry you through to a better life.
The ten of Swords, coming at the end of the month and in the context of the earlier trumps, in spite of its ominous foreboding of destruction and ruin, needs to be taken in its more positive polarity: a new and better day is dawning. The worst is over, and with it comes clarity. Everything has clarified itself and you are now able to see the higher order of spiritual truth in all that has taken place. Here is your opportunity to analyze and learn from your pain, and draw wisdom from what has transpired. Unfortunately though, whatever the problem, be cautious as it may impact your family and friends as well. Note though that the struggle and suffering is over, and a bright new future beckons you to move forward with your life.
In combination with the Chariot as the focus of the month, the month of June therefore is all about you and your transition to the next level of spiritual life. The Universe has decreed that change is necessary for your own good, and consequently it will occur. With the Chariot as your guiding light, the focus of the month thus becomes conviction, faith to persevere, conquest, victory, and success through the sheer force of your will. One door has closed but another is about to open. Do you have the courage to step through?
The month of May is pulsing with potential, power, and opportunity. The month of May begins with a strong urge for listening. More specifically, it is time to awaken and listen to your inner voice especially in regard to finding meaning and purpose in life. The Hierophant symbolizes what Jung called the animus, the unconscious masculine principle, and in this manifestation informs us that expending our energies in external actions no longer satisfies. Here is the urge toward finding the transcendent meaning of life. It is time to pursue, through our creative force, those things which will satisfy our spiritual void, and fulfill, at the deepest level, our hunger to find true purpose and meaning in our lives. It is time to let go and allow ourselves to be instructed by the inner voice that resides deep within each one of us. It is time to trust the divine, strengthen your faith, and search for truth and holistic meaning in all experience. Find your direction. Find your truth. Find the essential, for only there lies true meaning. Find the bridge between what you have learned and its application in your experience. As the Hierophant governs our spiritual welfare, it is time to pursue enlightenment with fervor. Examine your belief systems. Do you have the convictions to backup your faith? Are you disciplined/committed to your spiritual development? These are some ideas for you to ponder this month.
The Magician symbolizes masculine polarity on a cosmic level. He is what Jung called the animus: the unconscious masculine principle. In this manifestation The Magician represents directed power. This means power directed to drives, motivations, and the pursuit of higher concepts and ideals through knowledge. He represents taking initiative in the active search for knowledge and meaning through external experience. He urges us to utilize every resource at our disposal, and to become aware of our unlimited potential. We are the creators of our own reality; we have the ability, especially this month, to turn our ideas (intangibles) into tangibles. Through resourcefulness and conscious willpower, you can manifest your desires. As the number one, The Magician allows you to bridge the world of spirit and ideas created by the energies of the Hierophant into a tangible achievement. The Magician appears now because this month you have available to you the creative power and energy to create a new life cycle for yourself. Therefore, this month you have all the pieces available to you to manifest your desires, be they spiritual, emotional, physical, or mental. It is important to note here that you have the ability to make it happen this month. The Magician therefore is a signal to act consciously and act now, provided you understand exactly what you want and are committed to getting it. Be clear about your underlying motives and intentions. Ask yourself: What action can I take to move into a better direction? What resources are available to me, and how do I tap into them?
The King of Wands represents pure outward, goal-oriented, spontaneous transformative fire energy. He speaks directly to passion, personal driving force, dynamism, strong will, self-confidence, and decisive, goal-oriented and courageous action. As he is extremely flexible and adaptable, and able to rapidly move in the proper (and most advantageous) direction in response to any situation, he provides a blueprint for your actions this month. Be flexible. Be adaptable. Respond to situations in a manner most advantageous to you as you pursue your goals. Ensure, however, that this flexibility does not derail you from your goals and your pursuits. As the King is a natural born leader, take on that role and be the leader in your life. The King thus urges you to consider who or what is dominating your creativity. Take command and overthrow the old with the bold new ideas welling up from deep inside of you. So, take your responsibilities seriously. Think of new ways to do things, and never stop believing in yourself!
What a month May can turn out to be for you! This is a month of ambition, power, and of manifestation. This is the month to grasp what the universe is offering you. This is your window of opportunity to manifest the reality you desire. Listen to the urgings of your inner voice, channel your energy into everyday experience, and through passion and determination, and sheer force of will, manifest your true destiny.
The month of April brings a very strong focus on, and push for, new beginnings. The ideas conceived, studies undertaken, and learnings gleaned, or whatever you have been contemplating in the past, have all been nurtured sufficiently long and the Universe now says enough is enough. The month of April brings the strong urge and push to actualize those ideas, to expand your horizons, and simply to go for it! Whatever your passion may be, wherever your zeal may lie, really, just go for it. You may not think you know all you need to know, but trust that you have the vision and the intelligence to bring your passions to fruition. Temper your dreams with logic but utilize discernment as you turn your dreams into reality. Many possibilities are opening up for you but quick, responsible, decisive action is required here to achieve concrete results.
The Judgement brings the urge for liberation from the past. The intent is to free yourself from any aspect of your life that held you in back in the past, and to realize peace of mind, spiritual development, and self-discovery. However, commitment and will are the preconditions for redemption. Since Judgement represents reasoned conclusion, you will be compelled to move into a new order of knowing and understanding.
The cards this month are all about pursuing your highest calling. It is the time for the transformation of your life to come into being. Be honest about your life, listen to your higher self, and initiate the will to achieve and accomplish. This month is thus all about the search for new experiences. It is the time for new beginnings, spontaneity, faith, and the pursuit of your potential by embracing the unknown as the possibilities in front of you are endless.
Be enthusiastic, open to all possibilities, and embrace life. Believe in yourself, listen to your intuition, and follow your heart. Confront your fears, take risks, follow your subconscious motives - believe and have faith in where the Universe is taking you. The Fool here is a very powerful force driving this month. Be as open and driven as your indominable spirit will allow.
The cards for March indicate that we have quite an active and volatile month ahead of us: a month filled with turbulence and change. The beginning of the month brings an epiphany and true hope: a light at the end of the tunnel and deep insight regarding the spiritual path we need to begin to follow to truly change and grow. The dawn of a new you has come. The old has been swept away, and it is time now for you to embrace the obstacles, both perceived and real, and forge the new you.
Unfortunately, the path illuminated to us by the Star will also raise fears, doubts, worries, and insecurities within us as to whether this truly is the path to follow for it may bring about arguments, and unpleasant discussions. Trust in your future, for you are being guided by a higher source and you have solid prospects for success amidst the turbulence.
The cards do offer us the way out of this conundrum. The way is clear: if we remember that all the roadblocks arising from our fears, worries, and insecurities stem predominantly from our old patterns - patterns that perhaps remain unresolved at some deep subconscious level - we can free ourselves of these limitations, and more freely follow the path that the Star offers us. And what might these old patterns be? The patterns that stem from the constant tension between our light and shadow side. It is time to accept and actively reconcile your light and shadow sides. In doing so, however, be aware that the energy associated with this path will require much thought, planning, continuous and lively discussions.
The sure footing along this path will come from tapping into your emotions to find the stability and balance required to follow the path indicated. The starting point of that path will be nothing other than the resolution of your past patterns, past ways of thinking, and letting go of your past history of pain, hurt, or failure. Be optimistic, remain positive, and follow your spiritual center no matter what is going on around you. Be more at ease, become a beacon of peace and harmony to others and nurture yourself as well as those around you as the month progresses. Your true spiritual destiny awaits.
This month brings us the prospect of a deceptively easily attainable spiritual growth with a potential that resonates in tune with our spiritual desires. There is here an opportunity for a new and deeper understanding at a higher and more integrated level.
The month will also challenge us to make personally difficult choices as to whether to even pursue these spiritual aspirations due to the significant internal shift that will be required on our part. The central card, the King, is strong and influential, so in order to make these choices this month, you will need to be truly honest with yourself. Although you will have the tools needed to make the choices necessary for your spiritual development, they will need to be utilized carefully and appropriately. Once committed, however, the process of making the choices required to bring our spiritual aspirations to a higher potential may feel unyieldingly slow and drawn out. You may not see immediate tangible results, but it is important to trust the process and allow it to unfold in its own time. The change will eventually come. You will simply need to trust the process.
The overall passive nature of the elements in the reading also warns that in spite of our wishful desires, nothing will move quickly or easily. Honesty and self-control will need to be exercised to the utmost in order to overcome the inertia of the subliminal processes taking place. While February will feel comforting and soothing, we will need to ground ourselves, make the choices required to move forward, and not allow ourselves to get caught up in fantasies or wishful thinking.
This will not be a race but rather a challenging part of our journey that will be well worth the effort in the long run.
Tarot is old, very old. It symbolizes the journey of the Hero from his humble beginnings to the full realization of his power and potential. Tarot can help you get a jump start when you become stalled on your life’s journey, provide insight and information, and guide you to remove blockages that impede your happiness and fulfillment.
In this hands-on class we too will undertake this journey and in the process transform our lives. We will begin with a quick overview of the Tarot and how the Tarot works (including its connection to numerology, astrology, the elements, and the seasons), and then it’s time to dive right in. At the end of the class you will begin to read cards, so please have a question ready.
This class will be a fun, hands-on learning experience.
